MomsMatter
I have spent over forty years advocating for mothers and babies, thrity-four years of that time was caring directly for babies in the NICU. I love mothers and babies, but I worry about mothers these days. As a professional working mother I was guilty of attempting to do it all - full-time work and the best mom of three that I could be. This was no easy feat, then or now. I want working mothers to know that what they are doing is really HARD, and that their struggles are nearly universal. The more we share this acceptance, the better we will feel.
I want to build a community of mothers who are thoughtful in their quest for knowledge, who are willing to learn from others, and who love stories. Our stories connect us in our continual search for how to deal with our feelings, get it all done well, and be a good enough mother, too.
I plan to post a newsletter or a personal story weekly on Wednesdays. Some of these stories come from my book (my past life) and some are new. All are meant to illustrate the challenges that mothers face today. Moms Matter because “you are too important to your family to be neglected,” said my friend and fellow pediatrician, Dr. Kelly Fradin.
