Moms Matter - because this is hard.
Some personal stories, some medical stories and some updates on topics of interest to healthy mothers and children.
This newsletter, Moms Matter, has been published for nearly two years, and now there are almost 3,000 subscribers! I am touched and so grateful for your interest. You are awesome!
“Moms Matter because you are too important to your family to be neglected.”
My weekly newsletter tells a personal motherhood story, a medical mom story, or updates some topic important for mothers and healthy children. Some of these stories come from my memoir, So Many Babies, and some are brand new. All are meant to illustrate the challenges that mothers face today.
I spent over forty years advocating for mothers and babies, thrity-four years of that time was caring directly for babies in the NICU. I love mothers and babies, but I worry about mothers these days. As a professional working mother I was guilty of attempting to do it all - full-time work and trying to be the best mom of three that I could be. That was no easy feat then, and even today, it is still very difficult.
I also post stories about my own motherhood experiences over the years, raising three different children to three amazing young adults (and two grandchildren.) I write about how these three presented me with all sort of challenges that were difficult to navigate. Many of them you may be dealing with, too.
If you love my NICU stories, you might enjoy my memoir, So Many Babies. In it, I recount many marvelous stories of NICU babies and their strong, courageous, and resilient parents. (I also confess in this book how my NICU career wore me down and affected my mothering, my mental health, and my marriage over the years.)
I learned so much from all of my NICU parents and was especially touched when, upon contacting them years later, every single one gave me permission to tell their child’s story.
You can find my book So Many Babies on Bookshop.org which donates money to independent book stores. I buy books from that site for that reason alone.
If you are an Amazon junkie like my older daughter, you can find my book there for a little bit cheaper.
THANK YOU again for subscribing. I hope that in the future, I can prove to you that your paid subscription to Moms Matter will be worth your money!
Hope you are feeling better! I’m excited to check out your book 🤍
Much better now. And thank you, Kathleen.
